THE STORY OF "MISTER"
Rooted in the past – the 1930s to be precise – the story of MISTER examines the career of Patrick O’Connell, the first Irish captain of Manchester United. A title-winning manager, he guided Seville’s Real Betis to victory in La Liga and managed FC Barcelona during the height of the Spanish Civil War.
The looks and style of the collection are rooted very much in the present, referencing the working wardrobe of the modern-day super-manager. Guardiola, Simeone, Mourinho, Pochettino, Conte and Ancelloti are all contemporary football managers and style icons. The colour story is inspired by the colours of FC Barcelona.
The collection includes a formal sideline look, casual training ground attire, and some streetwear and a holiday looks that tick every box, taking MISTER through his working day and his home life in style.
The name of the collection is inspired by the Spanish football culture where players refer to the manager as "MISTER”.
SIDELINE STYLE - MANAGER'S SUIT
Soccer managers today are the new thought-leaders and taste-makers. From Pep Guardiola to Jose Mourinho Zinedine Zidane to Diego Simeone, their tactical ideas have transformed how the game is played and their personal style has transformed how soccer is viewed by fans and brands.
Paul Smith and Manchester United, DSquared and Manchester City, Lanvin and Arsenal, Hackett and Chelsea , Hugo Boss and Real Madrid/Liverpool, Replay Denin and Barcelona all have brand partnerships and the list goes on. Menswear brands the world over are scrambling to work alongside these pioneers as they see the sideline as the new runway only with millions of eyes watching the show globally.
More and more of these brands are drawn towards the manager rather than the players as their new faces. The manager's suit in the MISTER collection celebrates the new style status of the manager. The uniform of navy jacket and trousers, navy jumper and red pinstripe shirt is based on Pep Guardiola's sideline style. Variations of the look include a grey crew-neck worn with a blue, collared pinstripe or a grey half-zip pullover instead of the red pinstripes, worn under the navy jumper, a look worn a lot by Jose Mourinho. Sweatshirt options are available to dress the sideline suit down a little.
Later in the season our poly-cotton tracksuit will arrive and if you feel like challenging existing sideline style you can wear that under the blazer, making the ultimate managerial decision.
