The ideal was to achieve harmony by exercising both the body and mind. From 1912 to 1952, juries awarded a total of 151 medals in the fine arts inspired by athletic endeavours.

Irish artist Jack B. Yeats won an Olympic silver medal for his painting 'Liffey Swim', during the 1924 Olympic games in Paris. The marriage between sports and the arts is the basis and inspiration for the Paul Galvin AW22 range.
