Cleaning copper pots
Copper is one of the best conductors of heat. This means that when you cook with a copper pot it heats up really fast and cools down quickly when you take it off the heat. This is great news as it gives you better control over your cooking. If you are making something sensitive like custard, then copper is your go to pot as it will allow you to control the temperature more precisely.
Contrary to popular belief caring for your copper pot is relatively easy. You can buy special copper cleaner but you can also use household basics to great effect. All you need is a lemon and some salt.
Firstly always dry your copper pot after hand washing as the water residue can leave marks. To give your pot a good clean, cut a lemon in half and sprinkle the lemon with salt and rub over the pot. The acid in the lemon will lift the grime. After you have scrubbed all over, rinse the pot in warm soapy water and buff with a cloth.
